A New Face at Montville Patch

Hello Montville,

My name is Paul Petrone, and I’m the new editor of the Montville Patch.

As you know, Ellyn Santiago has since moved to cover the Groton and Stonington Patches. Before her, my dear friend Carrie Jacobson left to pursue a career in painting.

That leaves you with me. I hope you enjoy the inevitable new feel to the site that I’ll bring, but my mission remains the same as the two editors before me: to give you all the news and information you'd ever want about Montville, without any opinion or spin getting in the way.

As for me, as I was hired to launch the Waterford Patch in September of 2010. The site has been live since November of 2010, with myself serving as the editor. Before that, I wrote for The Day and The Bulletin after graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Connecticut. I’ve lived in the area my entire life, growing up in Salem and now living in New London.

I’ve been engulfed in the Patch world since the Patch world hit southeastern Connecticut, and I’ve very much enjoyed the ride. I have loved my job as the editor of Waterford Patch for the past two-and-a-half years, and have made many friends in the town.

And now, I am extremely excited to run Montville Patch as well. I’ve always been somebody who loves to meet new people, and now there is an entire town for me to meet.

Monday, Ellyn took me around to meet some of the key sources in town, and everybody was very nice and accommodating. I would like to particularly thank Montville Police Lt. Leonard Bunnell, who spent about an hour with me explaining the nuances of Montville’s police force and giving me a tour of the town’s new public safety complex.

I look forward to meeting all of you and finding all the interesting stories in this town. I’m a big believer in being as accessible as possible to the readers that I serve, and encourage you to call me at (860) 287-5265 or email me at paul.petrone@patch.com for anything, from news tips to complaints.

I have big shoes to fill as I replace Carrie and then Ellyn, but I look forward to the new adventure. I’m sure I will see many of you around town, and I’m pretty easy to spot as 95 percent of the time I wear my green Patch hat. If you see me, say hello, I’d love to meet you.

I hope to talk with you soon and look forward to learning about Montville,

Paul
