And the Best Hotel in Connecticut Is...

Travel and Leisure Magazine recently ranked the best hotels in each U.S. state.

If hotels tell the story of a country like Travel and Leisure writer Laura Itzkowitz asserts in The Best Hotels in Every State article, what does Connecticut contribute?

In Rhode Island, the Chanler at Cliff Walk tells the story of magnificent mansions and Great Gatsby-like parties of old. The owners of 21c Museum Hotel Louisville in Kentucky took a former factory — a site we often see in our cities — and gave it new life.

Here in Connecticut, the contribution to the country’s tapestry is a bit more glamorous.

The Travel & Leisure title of best hotel in Connecticut goes to the Mohegan Sun. Most of the hotels made it onto the World’s Best Awards list and were ranked based on reader reviews regarding room quality, location, service, dining options, nightlife and value.

The Mohegan Sun did not make it onto the World’s Best list. Travel and Leisure has a system in place for the states who were not mentioned.

“In the case of a few states that didn’t have any hotels represented on the World’s Best list, we asked for nominations from the people who know best, including the tourism boards in those states,” according to Travel and Leisure.

Mohegan Sun ranked highly due to its dining options.

“… If you’re looking for the kind of resort with so many dining options and activities that you never have to leave the grounds, this place is right for you,” Travel and Leisure wrote. “Famed for its casino, the ginormous resort has 1,200 rooms, 42 dining options (ranging from Starbucks and Krispy Kreme to Todd English’s Tuscany), a 22,000-square-foot spa, and golf club.”
