Credit Card Skimmers Found At 7-Eleven In Montville: Police
"We ask anyone who has used their credit cards at 7/11 to monitor their credit card statements and report suspicious activity," police said.
MONTVILLE, CT — If you’ve recently used a credit card at the 7-Eleven in Montville, you might want to check your charges, according to police.
A customer at the store in the 2100 block of Route 32 on Sunday noticed skimming devices on two credit card pads, police said. The person removed the devices and notified employees, who contacted law enforcement, according to police.
The workers began reviewing surveillance cameras to try to identify the suspects and find out when the skimmers were placed, police said.

“We ask anyone who has used their credit cards at 7/11 to monitor their credit card statements and report suspicious activity,” Montville police said in a social media post.
A skimmer is an illegal device criminals attach to card readers to capture and steal data from the magnetic strips on cards, according to New London police. Most skimmers fit over card readers but those at fuel pumps are usually attached to a machine’s internal wiring, police said.

Customers can avoid skimmers by paying with chip-enabled and contactless-enabled cards, according to police, who advised anyone who suspects a card has been compromised report suspicious activity or unauthorized charges to the issuer immediately.
