Ice Flies Off Van, Nearly Strikes Police Cruiser In Montville
A driver is facing a fine for neglecting to remove ice from their vehicle, according to state police.
MONTVILLE, CT β A driver was fined $120 after ice from their van nearly struck a police cruiser on I-395 in Montville.
State police posted a video of the incident on Troop E Montville's Facebook page.
Troop E wrote in a post: "Remove the Ice or Pay the Price! A Troop E trooperβs cruiser was nearly struck by an βice missileβ earlier this afternoon while traveling on I-395 in the Town of Montville. The operator of the van was cited and issued a $120.00 infraction for failing to remove this accumulated snow and ice. Pursuant to C.G.S 14-252a; Removal of Accumulated Snow or Ice from Vehicle: The operator of any motor vehicle shall remove any accumulated ice or snow from such motor vehicle, including the hood, trunk and roof of such motor vehicle, so that any ice or snow accumulated on such vehicle does not pose a threat to persons or property while the vehicle is being operated on any street or highway of this state. Any such operator who fails to remove accumulated ice or snow that poses such a threat shall be fined."
