Man Sells Classic Cars For Montville Owner; Keeps Money: Police
Bad checks for amounts over $20,000 and broken promises were just some of the experiences car owners allege occurred.

Montville and Ledyard classic car owners thought they were selling their 1969 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport and 1967 Chevrolet Corvette via a broker from Southbury.
Steven Shapiro, 63, a Southbury resident, sold the cars for their owners but allegedly did not give them the money from the sale — approximately $60,000 — according to the Norwich Bulletin.
He allegedly wrote bad checks for sellers — two totaled $24,000 and one totaled $35,000. Shapiro had a Wednesday, Jan. 13, court date and was arraigned on larceny charges and issuing a bad check.
