Man Calls Victim To Say He Is About To Break Into Their Home, Found Hiding In Basement: Montville Police

The accused was taken to a hospital for injuries sustained while resisting officers and K-9 Sig, police said.

MONTVILLE, CT β€” Police said a man was found hiding inside a basement of a home that wasn't his.

At 1:11 a.m. Wednesday, police received two phone calls from a victim, police said. The victim told police that they had received a call from Alex Martin, 36, that he was in the backyard of the home and that "he was about to break into the residence," police said.

Police said Martin is accused of trespassing on the property earlier in the evening.

Police said they found Martin hiding in the locked basement with the assistance from K-9 Sig of the police department.

He is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond, and is charged with home invasion, second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal trespass, interfering with an officer, disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
