Mohegan Sun Restaurant To Undergo 'Major Transformation' During Temporary Closure
An Italian restaurant at the resort casino will reopen later this spring under a new name and concept.
UNCASVILLE, CT β Ballo Italian Restaurant at Mohegan Sun will temporarily close May 5 as it prepares to reopen later this spring under a new name and concept, dubbed the The Farm Italy.
The change marks a major transformation for the restaurant located in the Casino of the Earth. The space will retain its architecture but introduce a redesigned interior and updated menu focused on Italian countryside-style dining.
The Farm Italy will continue under the direction of restaurateur John Tunney, whose team also operates The Shed and Besito Mexican Restaurants.

With a restaurant in Huntington, New York, The Farm Italy is known for its seasonal menu and handmade Italian dishes. The expansion to Mohegan Sun will be its first outside the state, with another location planned for Westbury, New York.

Mohegan Sun President and General Manager Jeff Hamilton said the project honors the legacy of Ballo while introducing new culinary offerings.
βWe are committed to offering exceptional dining throughout our entertainment destination,β Hamilton said in a statement.
The menu will feature items like branzino with lemon and broccolini, pappardelle Bolognese with ricotta, and a 16-ounce New York strip steak. Other offerings include house-made bread, classic cacio e pepe, and chicken parmesan.
The restaurant will also debut a new cocktail and mocktail list, with drinks like a blood orange margarita and a cucumber spritz.
Tunney called the transition an evolution of the brandβs commitment to Italian cuisine and hospitality.
βItβs more than just a name change,β Tunney said. βWeβre bringing the heart and soul of The Farm Italy into a space that has already meant so much to our guests.β
The Farm Italy is expected to open shortly after Memorial Day weekend.
