Montville Resident Safe After Fire; Dog Passes Away: Fire Official

A fire at 486 Route 82 in Montville caused extensive damage to the house.

A Three Rivers Community College student drove by a 486 Route 82 house and saw smoke emanating from the door the morning of Thursday, Jan. 21.

According to The Day, student Chase Bowers reported the fire and said he observed blue popping coming from an electrical line on the house.

One of the homeowners, Charlotte Wildowsky, was home at the time of the fire. She was not harmed and her husband William was not at home. Sadly, their dog perished in the fire.

Oakdale Fire Company Chief Gary Murphy told The Day the company was shorthanded initially and it took some time for firefighters to get to the house. He said firefighters did a good job with the resources available to them.
