Restaurant With Several New York Locations Opens At Mohegan Sun

MONTVILLE, CT — The Shed, a restaurant with several New York locations, opened a Mohegan Sun location last week.

The restaurant is in an 8,785-square-foot space next to BALLO Italian Restaurant and across from Frank Pepe's at Casino of the Earth.

The Shed features a scratch kitchen and is open seven days a week brunch, lunch, and dinner, according to a statement.

The restaurant was established in 2017 and has four locations in New York: Huntington, West Sayville, Plainview, and Westbury.

BALLO and The Shed are both creations of restaurateur John Tunney, III.

“It's a real honor for us to open another restaurant here at Mohegan Sun,” Tunney said in a statement. “We’ve been here with BALLO for about 15 years, and we have the privilege of operating inside of a property that is really second to none.

The restaurant "features a robust list of specialty brunch, lunch and dinner menu items — from the indulgent to the healthful," according to a statement. Dishes on offer include Skillet Mac & Cheese topped with corn, jalapeños, bacon and green onion, and Glazed Salmon paired with Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, & shallots, topped with a sweet mustard glaze.

The news comes as other dining options were added at Mohegan Sun. The Crafty Slice, specializing in pizza by-the-slice, opened over the summer.

Over the holiday season, a TAO Group high-end restaurant, Beauty & Essex, is slated to open, Chapman said.

This restaurant features an "innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well­-curated modern day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures and an eclectic array of 'one -off' pieces of jewelry," according to the website for its New York location. Beauty & Essex also has a restaurant in Las Vegas.

Last year, Mohegan Sun's food court closed. The four restaurants in the food court that closed were Mezze Mediterranean, Jasper White’s Summer Shack Express, Southside, and The Original SoupMan, according to Hearst Connecticut Media.

The Uncasville casino currently lists 40 dining options with brand-name options like Chik-Fil-A, Jersey Mike's Subs, Krispy Kreme, and Ben & Jerry's.
