Sponsorships Available for Mystic Irish 5K Road Race

Sponsorships are still available for Groton Parks and Recreation’s 2nd annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race, taking place on Saturday, March 19, in Downtown Mystic.

Sponsors receive benefits such as their logo on the race t-shirts, a booth at the race, and the opportunity to hand out information in the race packets. Sponsorship levels begin at $250. The race is part of a weekend of Irish festivities in Mystic. The certified 5K race begins and ends on Pearl Street and follows a flat and fast route along the Mystic River. Runners are encouraged to wear their best green running gear and have fun with the St. Patrick’s Day theme.

Winners in each category of the Mystic Irish 5K Road Race receive an opportunity to march in the 12th annual Mystic Irish Parade the following day.

Discounted runner registration is available for $25 before March 17 online at GrotonRec.com or in person at the Groton Parks and Recreation office at 27 Spicer Ave., Groton. Race day registration is $30 and begins at 8:30 a.m. at the registration tent located in the parking lot of St. Mark’s Church, 15 Pearl St. Special edition, long sleeved, performance knit t-shirts are guaranteed for the first 200 registered runners. A portion of each registration benefits the Mystic Irish Parade Foundation.

After the race, participants are invited to the Harp & Hound pub on Pearl St. to celebrate and for the presentation of awards and runners also receive 15% off food purchases.

The event is presented by Thames Valley Communications and generously sponsored by STIHL, Hall Communications, and the Inn at Mystic.
