UPDATE: Naugatuck Officers in Boston Are OK

Scores injured, multiple dead after explosion near Boston Marathon finish line Monday. All with Naugatuck connections believed safe.

Dozens of people were injured by two explosions near the Boston marathon finish line Monday afternoon. There are multiple reports of victims with missing limbs, bloodied heads and other extremely serious injuries. The Boston Police Department has confirmed three have died; CNN is reporting that 141 people have been injured and that one of those who died is an 8-year-old boy. 

Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency confirms there were explosions but has not released any further details. Public Safety blogger Alert New England reported that all ambulances in the area were diverted to the scene.

Boston EMS is setting up triage on Boylston, with thousands of police and emergency personnel on scene. Anyone looking for a runner is being directed by Boston Police to go to Boston Common.

WBZ-TV is reporting there was a fire at the John F. Kennedy Library just after the explosions.

One eyewitness, Jennifer Curro, said she was right next to the Prudential Center when she heard two explosions.

"It was the loudest thing I've ever heard it stopped us in our tracks," she said.

Naugatuck Connections

Naugatuck Police Lt. Bryan Cammarata and Detective Bart Deeley were headed to the Red Sox game with two friends, Naugatuck native Peter Lawlor, of Wolcott, and Jeremiah Scully, former Naugatuck police captain. All four are OK.

"We were at Fenway heading to the T station, and the police told us the line was shut down because of an explosion - they did not give us any info. other than to get out of the area," Cammarata said. 

Julie and Howie Rosenblatt, who own Rosenblatts on Maple Street in Naugatuck, were at the marathon watching their daughter Jennifer run today. They are also OK. 

Regan Kelly of Naugatuck also ran today and is safe, her father, Mike Kelly, told Patch.
