Both drivers were taken to hospitals, police said.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A driver was involved in a violent crash after fleeing police Saturday evening in Naugatuck, authorities said.
Tremayne Carter, 23, of Beacon Falls, was charged with evading responsibility resulting in serious injury, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, following too closely resulting in an accident, speeding, passing in a no-passing zone and driving without a license, according to police.
The crash occurred after police tried to stop a speeding Genesis sedan around 7 p.m. on Rubber Avenue but did not pursue the vehicle, which continued to move recklessly, out of concern for public safety, authorities said.
