EPA Orders Shut Down of Naugatuck Wastewater Plant's Incinerator

The EPA shut down the incinerator at Naugatuck's wastewater plant.

NAUGATUCK--Naugatuck's incinerator at the Cherry Street Extension wastewater treatment plant is shut down.

The federal Environmental Protection Agency shuttered the borough's incinerator due to a missed deadline to upgrade the plant and reduce pollution, The Republican-American reports.

Naugatuck had until March 22 to fix the issue. The upgrades would cost a total of about $86 million, The Republican-American reports. Currently, Naugatuck has spent $2.1 on the issue.
