First-term Burgess Encourages Naugatuck Annual Budget Referendum
A heated debate over possible referendum was sparked on Tuesday.

Alex Olbrys, a first-term burgess and mayoral candidate, is attempting to push the borough to send the annual budget proposals to voters automatically, according to the Republican-American.
Most other members of the committee disagreed with this suggestion, which started a heavy debate amongst the officials, the Rep-Am reported.
Olbrys said the idea was brought to him by resident Emedio Cerasale, who is a petitioning candidate running for burgess, the Rep-Am reported. Olbrys said he agreed with the idea, and also said the current system in place to start a referendum takes too long. Ironically, a budget referendum is likely to held this summer.
