NAUGATUCK, CT — A man accused of sexually assaulting a minor and wanted by Naugatuck police was arrested this week on a warrant in Georgia, according to police.

In a news release, police said the department received information Monday that Jamel Young, a 53-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl while staying in Naugatuck, was at a home in Brunswick, Ga.

An arrest warrant issued for Young charged him with first-degree sexual assault, first-degree attempted sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

The arrest warrant included nationwide extradition and a $750,000 court-set bond, according to police.

Young is currently in custody in Georgia and will be extradited to Connecticut at a later date, police said.

"We would like to thank the Brunswick Police Department and the FBI New Haven for their assistance in locating and arresting Young," police said in a news release.
