House Fire Extinguished In Naugatuck

A neighbor reported the fire after seeing smoke and hearing smoke detectors coming from the building, according to officials.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Crews extinguished a house fire Monday morning after a neighbor reported seeing smoke and hearing smoke detectors coming from the building, according to officials.

Crews responded to the structure fire on Sunset Drive around 7:40 a.m. and found a single-family home with a fire in the basement, according to the Naugatuck Fire Department.

“Neighbors reported no one home, which was confirmed after a search of the building,” officials wrote in a post on the fire department’s Facebook page. “Fire crews extinguished the fire, which was confined to the basement. There is smoke damage throughout the home.

“Owner out of state and is responding back to town. No injuries reported.”

Officials said the Beacon Falls and Prospect fire departments provided station coverage, while Naugatuck Fire Police assisted in traffic control.
