Naugatuck High School Briefly Placed On Lockdown After Threat: Police

NAUGATUCK, CT — Police said a report they received Wednesday afternoon of an armed person standing in front of Naugatuck High School was determined to be "not credible."

In a news release, police said they received information from a veterans hotline around 1:30 p.m. that an armed person was standing in front of Naugatuck High School, located at 543 Rubber Avenue.

Officers immediately responded to the school and began taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of staff and students, according to police.

After further investigation, officers determined the threat was not credible and was similar to threats received by other area school districts, police said.

"At this time, the origins of the call are still under investigation and there is no threat to the community," police said in a news release. "The lockdown has been lifted and normal school operations have resumed."

Trumbull police said St. Joseph High School was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after they received a report of a man with a gun outside the school.

After searching the building, officers determined no threat existed, according to police.
