Why are you seeking this office?

I was born and raised in Naugatuck, and I have a deep love for both my hometown and the community that shaped me. As a proud graduate of Naugatuck High School and a product of Naugatuck Public Schools, I’m committed to giving back in meaningful ways—and serving in public office is one of the most impactful ways I can do that.

Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Board of Education. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience, allowing me to contribute to the same school system that played such an important role in my own life—and shaped the lives of my nieces and their peers.

Our schools are where future generations of Naugatuck will learn, thrive and belong. They are preparing the world ahead. Ensuring they receive the highest quality education is a responsibility I take seriously. I understand that our community holds a wide range of perspectives, and I strive to listen with respect, weigh all viewpoints, and make thoughtful decisions that serve the best interests of our students and families.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:

When it comes to education, I understand that people care deeply about a wide range of important issues—whether it’s test scores, transportation, school climate, class sizes, or staffing, just to name a few.

As a member of the Board of Education, I recognize that no individual board member holds power alone; we act collectively as a Board. That’s why, when a concern is brought to my attention, I take it seriously. I make the effort to research the issue, consult with fellow board members, and take appropriate action within the scope of our responsibilities. I am always open to hearing from residents, and I value open dialogue with everyone in our community. Your perspectives matter, and I’m here to listen.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Each candidate running for the Board of Education brings a unique blend of experience, skills, and perspectives. What sets me apart is my long-standing service at both the state and local levels of government, my deep understanding of the issues facing our schools, my educational background, and, most importantly, my strong connection to the Naugatuck community.

I pride myself on being a collaborative leader who works well with others, regardless of political affiliation. I believe that practical, effective solutions come from listening, finding common ground, and putting students first. Our differences as board members are not a weakness—they are what make the Board stronger, more balanced, and better equipped to serve our schools.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

There is important work ahead for the Board of Education. We are currently in the process of selecting a new Superintendent of Schools, and I look forward to engaging with voters to hear what qualities and priorities they value in the next leader of our district. I also believe it's essential to have open conversations with community members about their broader goals and concerns for our schools, so I can bring those perspectives into Board discussions and decision-making.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

In my time on the Board of Education, I’ve worked to foster a strong culture of collaboration between the Board and our Town government. I’ve also partnered with fellow Board members to implement important initiatives—such as requiring students to keep their cell phones in secure pouches during the school day to support focus and learning. I’ve been a strong advocate for expanding educational opportunities, supporting the addition of programs in healthcare, education, fire service, and the trades—giving students practical skills and clear pathways after graduation. Throughout my service, I’ve remained committed to our students, teachers, and community, and I’ve never shied away from putting in the hard work needed to improve our schools.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

“Be yourself.” That’s the best advice I’ve ever received, and it’s the same advice I always share with others. When you stay true to who you are and speak honestly, you put yourself in a position to make a real impact. Authenticity builds trust, and with trust comes the power to create meaningful change.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I truly believe that Naugatuck is one of the best places to live, work, raise a family, and go to school. While there is still work to be done, I’m confident that, together, we can continue making progress. I’ve always maintained an open-door policy and am committed to listening to and addressing the concerns of our community. Serving on the Board of Education has been an incredible honor, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue serving and advocating for our students, families, and educators.
