Warrant Issued For Slaying Of Waterbury Teen: Police
Police are searching for a city man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen on Willow Street Friday, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — Police on Monday said they have secured an arrest warrant for a city man for the Friday slaying of a 17-year-old girl.
Lt. Ryan Bessette said police have identified Shamar Atwater, 40, of Waterbury, as a suspect in the July 11, 2025, murder of Carizma Fox.
An arrest warrant has been issued charging Atwater with murder and weapon-related offenses, police said.

Police as of Monday afternoon were actively searching for Atwater and seeking tips from the public on his whereabouts.
Fox, a Waterbury resident, died after being shot Friday on Willow Street.

Police responded to the scene Friday around 2:48 a.m. following a report of shots being fired.
Officers found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was rushed to a local hospital, but she later died.
According to Bessette, a preliminary investigation revealed there was a disturbance outside involving a group of people, which led to the shooting.
