Rossi Officially Announces Naugatuck Mayoral Candidacy

Rossi, who is the Borough's deputy mayor, is running for mayor as a Republican.

Deputy Mayor, Tamath K. Rossi, officially announced her candidacy for Naugatuck mayor on Thursday night.

“The excitement and energy was incredible and I am honored to have such strong support and energetic excitement from all of you!” Rossi wrote on Facebook.

Rossi, 49, credits her return to the political world to volunteers, town leaders, friends and family who all told her the borough could benefit from her experience if she ran for office again, according to the Republican-American.

“Such a great night and I am incredibly grateful for the support of so many, including my family and I’m eager to get started working with all of you on a campaign for Naugatuck’s future,” Rossi wrote on Facebook.

Rossi said she would start with adding more jobs and opportunities for families, businesses and seniors, the Rep-Am reported. She said the mayoral race is about growing the local economy.

Rossi is in the running against fellow Republicans Seth Bronko and first-term Burgess Alexander Alybrys, as well as Democrat N. Warren “Pete” Hess, according to the Rep-Am.
