Thomaston Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Minor In Waterbury: PD

A complaint was first lodged in May, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A Thomaston resident is accused of sexually assaulting a female minor and creating child pornography.

Detectives from the Waterbury Police Department’s Special Victims Unit first received a complaint on May 27, police said in a press release issued Wednesday.

On June 20, police charged Thomas Abbatiello, 32, of Thomaston, on a warrant with the following:

• Risk of injury to a child (11 counts)
• Illegal sexual contact (10 counts)
• Interfering with an emergency call
• Kidnapping in the second degree
• Sexual assault in the first degree (3 counts)
• Sexual assault in the fourth degree (7 counts)
• Importing child sexual abuse material (4 counts)
• Possession of child sexual abuse material (4 counts)
• Employing a minor in an obscene performance (4 counts)
• Promoting a minor in an obscene performance (4 counts)

Police said the incidents happened at the victim’s Waterbury home. The minor and Abbatiello know each other, according to police.

Abbatiello was held on $1 million bond and appeared in Superior Court in Waterbury on Wednesday. He is next due in court on July 9, court records show.
