Waterbury Cops Seek Tips In Scooter Hit And Run

The scooter operator sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A motorized scooter operator suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday night in a collision with a vehicle which fled the scene.

The scooter and vehicle collided Thursday around 7:18 p.m. at Meriden Road and Enoch Street, according to police spokesman Lt. Ryan Bessette.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene prior to police arriving, police said.

The scooter operator, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital, and he was listed in critical, but stable condition as of Friday, according to police.

Police found the vehicle involved in the collision and are working to identify who was driving it at the time of the accident, police said.

The Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating, and anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 203-346-3975.
