Waterbury Police ID Man Found Dead In Abandoned Building
The man was a Torrington resident, according to police.
WATERBURY, CT — Police on Tuesday released the identity of a man whose body was found in an abandoned building over the weekend.
Lt. Ryan Bessette said the man has been identified as Joseph McCarthy, 40, of Torrington.
The investigation into the untimely death is ongoing, according to police.

“At this time, there are no apparent suspicious circumstances,” Bessette said.
Police were summoned Sunday around 5:13 p.m. for a report of a deceased male in an abandoned building at 215 Cherry St.

The body was taken to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. As of Tuesday afternoon, the cause of death was “pending further studies.”
