Waterbury Police Plan DUI Checkpoint
The checkpoint starts Thursday evening, according to police.
WATERBURY, CT — Police plan to conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Thursday night.
The checkpoint will be at 2000 Baldwin St., and it will run from 5 p.m. through midnight.
Police said the checkpoint is part of its effort to promote road safety and reduce impaired driving.

While it might seem counterintuitive to warn people of a DUI checkpoint, police said they must provide formal notice according to state law.
The police department’s Traffic Services Unit is conducting the checkpoint in partnership with the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
