Horizons Day in New Canaan Deemed A Success
More than $11,000 for the Horizons student enrichment program.
A tremendous outpouring of support from New Canaan merchants and residents has helped raise more than $11,000 for the Horizons student enrichment program at New Canaan Country School as part of a broader fundraising effort for Horizons National Giving Day. The campaign, which ended on May 12th, accumulated over $65,000 for the New Canaan affiliate. "The response was overwhelmingly positive," said Kerry Yeager Stevens, Executive Director of the flagship program in the Horizons national network. Community members and dedicated merchants went above and beyond to make this day such a success."
In addition to donating a portion of their afternoon sales, storefronts were decorated with balloons and signs to celebrate Horizons Day. "We have already heard from a number of stores asking how they can participate next year," Stevens said. "Horizons Day has proven to be about far more than fundraising. It speaks to the strength of our community and the impact it has when we pull together."

Horizons students and their peers in the Friends Corps program at New Canaan Country School created additional awareness at sidewalk tables throughout town. In the evening, a huge crowd, which included First Selectman Rob Mallozzi III and Jane and Brian Williams, came out to hear Morning Joe Music at South End.
First Selectman Mallozzi shared, "Horizons has laid the groundwork for an annual town tradition in support of a New Canaan program that has become a national model for student success. I personally am grateful to the community for rallying around Horizons and hope to make Horizons Day an even larger event next year."
