If you're a grade-schooler just getting out on a Friday afternoon, there's no better place to be than Mackenzie's, a little corner store that all the kids love.
On a beautiful Friday afternoon, dozens of backpacks were piled high in front of the store and even more kids were roaming the sidewalks, squirting water guns and gorging themselves on candy.
"It's a little Friday ritual the kids have. They walk down in the afternoon and just hang out. We're the first stop on a little circuit they have," said owner Jim Berry. "They're in and out all afternoon. It's a little chaotic, but I love it. That's why we're here."
Berry said it doesn't even have to be nice out!
"You'll find them here on Fridays when there's nice weather, and usually even when there's not. Then their parents will come pick them up around five," Berry said.
