New Canaan May Fair Set for Saturday

The 64th annual May Fair at New Canaan's St. Marks Church is set to kick off this Saturday, and by Friday afternoon, things were looking good.

The rides, white elephant tag sale, flower center, book sale and food court were all set up and ready to go, according to church Director of Communications Megan Ferrell.

"The white elephant tag sale is known as the 'Mother of All Tag Sales,'" Ferrell said. "We've had up to 10,000 come out before, but it's not supposed to be as nice weather tomorrow, so we'll see."

The fair will go on regardless of the weather, Ferrell said. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. The tag sale ends at 3 p.m. but the rides and other activities will run until 9 p.m.

It takes more than 500 people to operate the event, Ferrell said.all the goods forge tag sale are donated from local or area residents and businesses and all sale proceeds go to assist their charitable outreach programs and programs the church supports, like Future Five or the Warm-Up Fund.

A map of the sprawling fair grounds is available for download on the church's website.
