Police: New Canaan Man, 68, Charged with DUI Had 2X Legal Blood-Alcohol Limit
When the driver got out of the car in a supermarket parking lot, he had trouble keeping his balance, police said.

A call to New Canaan police at 6:04 p.m. Thursday about a man either having some kind of medical problem or who was intoxicated, resulted in an officer approaching the driver of a car stuck in the Food Emporium parking lot at 280 Elm St.
New Canaan police gave this account (a series of accusations not proven in court) of the incident:
The Mercedes E550C was spinning its wheels in the snow, the vehicle’s owner trying to drive it away, when the police officer went to the car and spoke with the driver.
