PRAI Beauty Launches Free Animal Adoption Campaign

Cathy Kangas, Founder and CEO of PRAI Beauty, has launched a national campaign to sponsor adoption fees at animal shelters.

From the Dilenschneider Group: Cathy Kangas, Founder and CEO of PRAI Beauty, announced today she has launched a national campaign to change the world for shelter animals by sponsoring adoption fees at animal shelters from coast to coast.

On Saturday, May 27, Kangas and PRAI Beauty will sponsor all adoption fees at Adopt-A-Dog’s shelter located at 23 Cox Avenue, Armonk, NY. The shelter will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27th. Adopt-A-Dog has been coming to the rescue since 1981 and Cathy Kangas and her team at PRAI Beauty have adopted dogs from its shelter. To learn more about the adoptable dogs visit www.adoptadog.org or email info@adoptadog.org.

The campaign launch will include sponsorship of adoption fees on May 27 at shelters run by three organizations – Adopt-A-Dog in Armonk, New York; SBK Animals, which serves the communities of Sullivan County, Bluff City, and Kingsport in Tennessee; and Great Plains SPCA, with shelters in Independence, Missouri and Merriam, Kansas.

A similar adoption event sponsored by PRAI Beauty at the SPCA Tampa Bay on May 6 began with a line wrapped around the building and ended with a shelter of empty kennels after more than 80 animals were adopted – more than 4x the shelter’s average.

Cathy Kangas, an animal activist and proud Board Member of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) said: “Our event in Tampa Bay was such an ah-ha moment. A light bulb went on and I wondered if something so simple as removing adoption fees could give homes to the millions of animals in our shelters. If this is the barrier to adoption, we are breaking it down and going across the country from shelter to shelter until they’re all empty.”

About 2.4 million healthy, adoptable cats and dogs—about one every 13 seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year.1 Research has shown that removing adoption fees increases the number and speed of pet adoptions and reduces euthanasia.2 Furthermore, there are no significant differences in outcome between pets adopted with or without a fee.3

Kangas said, “We pride ourselves in being first at PRAI Beauty and this campaign is no exception. These three shelters are just the beginning…we are starting a movement. Shelter pets can be pedigree or mutts, young or old…they’re all perfect and they need to find good homes. With this campaign, we will make it easier for every dog, cat and pocket pet to find its forever home!”
