New Haven Public Schools Math Teacher, 42, Charged Following Texts With Student, 13: NHPD

Reported in October 2025 by her parent, the texts between him and the child, while not sexual, were outside normal teacher expectations: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — On Oct. 10, 2025, New Haven police were called to Benjamin Jepson Magnet school after a parent found text messages between her child, 13, and the girl's prior year math teacher Thomas Fargeorge, 42, and brought them to administration’s attention, police said Monday evening

Fargeorge, of North Branford, was put on administrative leave that same day, police said.

The state Department of Children and Families was also notified. The police case was assigned to Detective Samantha Romano of the Special Victims Unit.

"The investigation showed that while there was nothing physical between Fargeorge and the student, the two exchanged numerous tax over several months, often late at night and early in the morning," police said. The texts, while not sexual, police said, were nonetheless "outside of what would be expected in his role as teacher."

Fargeorge was taken into custody on Jan. 10 on the charge of harmful communication with a minor. He was released on $25,000 bond.
