Southern Connecticut State University Names New Chief Information Officer
With degrees from Georgetown, Quinnipiac, and Fairfield universities, Tom Armstrong was CT Director of Strategy and Enterprise Architecture.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Southern Connecticut State University's new chief information officer starts work Friday.
According to a news release, Tom Armstrong brings extensive experience in technology leadership across higher education, government, and the private sector.
Most recently, he served as director of strategy and enterprise architecture for the state where he "led statewide technology initiatives, managed IT operations across 40 agencies, and advanced efforts in cybersecurity, AI implementation, and digital transformation," SCSU noted.

Previously, Armstrong was associate vice president for enterprise systems at Fairfield University, "where he developed a five-year IT plan, upgraded ERP systems, and advanced data governance and student-centered technologies," the news release reads. He taught at Gateway Community College and has worked professionally for PwC Advisory, IBM, and Deloitte and Touche, according to his LinkedIn.
Armstrong holds master’s degrees in cybersecurity from Fairfield University and information systems from Quinnipiac University, along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management from Georgetown University, SCSU noted.

"His appointment represents an exciting step forward as we continue to enhance technology services and drive innovation to support student success, fiscal responsibility, and institutional excellence," said Dr. Lillian Wanjagi, vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer.
