$1 Million Winning Lottery Ticket Sold At Newington Stop & Shop

The $1 million winning ticket was sold last week at a Newington supermarket.

NEWINGTON, CT — A Newington supermarket recently sold a winning lottery ticket to a New Britain woman that granted her a life-changing payout.

According to the Connecticut Lottery Corp., last week, the woman purchased the winning $1 million ticket on April 22 at the Stop & Shop Supermarket on 44 Fenn Road, Newington. It costs $20 to play.

The game was CT Lottery’s 200X scratch game, and she "purchased the winning ticket during a routine trip to the grocery store."

Now, she said she plans to use her winnings to enjoy an early retirement with her husband, according to lottery officials.

For selling the winning ticket, Stop & Shop will receive a $10,000 bonus.
