Major Gym Chain Plans To Close Newington Location
A gym chain will close its fifth location in Connecticut in the last seven years, according to a report.
NEWINGTON, CT — LA Fitness will close its Newington location before the end of the month, The Hartford Courant reported. The news comes after LA Fitness closed a Bristol location two years ago.
The Newington location will be the fifth in Connecticut that LA Fitness has shuttered in the last five years. The company is also closing at least eight gyms elsewhere in the country.
The Newington gym is a 50,000-square-foot space on the Berlin Turnpike near Stew Leonard's and Sam's Club. The facility was listed for sale by Sullivan Hayes Northeast of Farmington, CT Insider reported.

Members in Newington have been offered access to any other LA Fitness location in the country as well as its Esporta and City Sports Club brands.

LA Fitness announced it would close its Hamden location on Skiff Street in 2021.
LA Fitness currently has six other gyms in the state in Farmington, Milford, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, and Trumbull, according to its website.
