Massachusetts Amber Alert Suspect Arrested At Newington Motel

The man reportedly stabbed the child's mother before taking the 21-month-old that led to the Amber Alert.

NEWINGTON, CT — A child at the center of an Amber Alert in Massachusetts was located safely in Newington on Sunday, Massachusetts State Police said.

The Amber Alert was issued after a 21-month-old baby was taken from his mother's home in Chicopee, Massachusetts following a violent domestic assault, police said. The suspect, 24-year-old Joshua Calcorzi, was said to have left the residence on foot.

He was located by police in Newington and arrested. The child was unharmed.

NBC Connecticut reported Calcorzi was arrested around 8:15 a.m. and was uncooperative at first. The news channel reports that the mother, who was stabbed, underwent surgery and is expected to be okay.
