Covering filings from late November through Christmas Day, the report highlights fresh commercial activity in town based on Connecticut’s official business registry.

Newington Named A Top 10 'Livable' Community In CT: AARP (patch.com) — Newington has been recognized by AARP as the fifth most livable community in Connecticut, putting the town in the state’s top ten for quality of life. Using AARP’s Livability Index, the ranking reflects local amenities and services that support residents of all ages and encourages further community improvements.
   

3. Warrant: Middletown woman with 2 DUI convictions charged in hit-and-run that seriously hurt man (thehour.com) — Newington police have charged a Middletown woman in connection with a September hit-and-run on Hartford Avenue that left a 70-year-old man with serious injuries and a long, costly recovery. Investigators used home surveillance and license-plate cameras to trace the vehicle, and are still seeking data from its ignition interlock device as the case moves toward a February court date.
   

4. Firefighters put out structure fire in Rocky Hill after finding frozen hydrant (courant.com) — Newington firefighters were part of Task Force 51 called in to cover Rocky Hill while crews battled a Sunday morning commercial building fire on Laurel Road, complicated by a frozen hydrant. Firefighters forced entry, tapped alternate hydrants, knocked the blaze down quickly, and no injuries were reported, though part of Dividend Road was temporarily closed.
