New Italian Restaurant To Open Soon In Newington

NEWINGTON, CT — Nearly two years after a Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta shuttered for good in Newington, another prominent restaurant group is ready to open a new eatery.

The West Hartford-based Doro Restaurant Group, which operates a diverse roster of restaurants in the state, is opening Casadoro Ristorante & Bar, promising "the next generation of Italian-American" classics.

Like Bertucci's prior, the new restaurant will be at 2929 Berlin Turnpike, with construction crews frantically putting the finishing touches on the building.

While no firm date of opening has been set, Doro said they are just "weeks away" from opening and they're looking for employees.

The company's Facebook page only said the restaurant will open in "late 2024."

In late 2022, the Massachusetts-based Bertucci's chain filed for bankruptcy and quickly shuttered several restaurants, including many in Connecticut.

Bertucci's currently operates 23 restaurants in total, with only one in Connecticut (Glastonbury).

As for Casadoro, the new establishment is currently looking for employees and is "hiring for all positions."
