Newington 2021 Election Voter Guide: Meet The Candidates

Here's what you need to know concerning the 2021 Newington elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

NEWINGTON, CT — On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Newington residents will head to the polls to cast votes for the municipal election. The position of Mayor, Constable, and spots on the Town Council, Board of Education and Fire Commission are all up for grabs.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

You can request an absentee ballot here or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

In Newington, incumbent Republican Mayor Beth Kinsey DelBuono is running against Democratic challenger Chris Miner.

Town Council: Democrats Mitch Page, Kim Radda, Sharon R. Braverman, Meri Beatrice and Jon M. Trister. Republican candidates are Michael Camillo, Gail Budrejko, Tim Manke, David Nagel and John Donahue.

Vote for up to five candidates.


Board of Education: Candidates include Sam Sharma, Jessica Weaver, Forrest C. Helvie, Amy Devoe Perrotti and Michael J. Branda, all Democrats. Republicans are Bruce A. Fletcher, Anastasia Yopp, Beth A. Manke Hutvagner, Danielle Drozo and Richard W. Lavariere.

Vote for up to five candidates.


Fire Commissioners: Democrat Frank L. Demaio, and Republicans Kent E. Stoddard and Walter A. Brideaux Jr.

Vote for up to two candidates.


Constable: Democrat Fred H. Callahan III, and Republican John Jay Bottalico.

Vote for one candidate.
