Newington Lowe's Store Robbed, Suspect In Custody After Chase: Police

State, Farmington, New Britain, and Newington police Sunday worked to apprehend the 35-year-old male suspect.

NEWINGTON, CT — A Waterbury man is in police custody after being accused of robbing the Newington Lowe's Home Improvement store on Sunday, Dec. 29.

According to the Newington Police Department Monday morning, the man charged has been identified as Scott Tenney, 35, of Waterbury.

Police said he was charged with second-degree robbery; two counts of first-degree criminal trespassing; sixth-degree larceny; operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license; two counts of fifth-degree larceny; reckless operation; engaging police in pursuit; interfering with a police officer; second-degree reckless endangerment; and third-degree larceny.

Tenney was detained on a $60,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Britain
Superior Court Tuesday, Dec. 30.

According to an NPD release, on Sunday, Dec. 29, officers took the suspect into custody after an investigation into a robbery at Lowe’s Home Improvement, 3270 Berlin Turnpike at 8:21 a.

Police were alerted to the robbery by store employees, the NPD said.

Newington police officers then located Tenney in a vehicle at the Panera Bread parking lot nearby on the Berlin Turnpike.

Newington police attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle fled from officers, police said.

Connecticut State Police then located the vehicle a short time later, according to police.

Tenney engaged officers in pursuit, with state police, aided by New Britain and
Farmington police — able to stop the vehicle.

Newington police officers responded to the scene and took custody of Tenney, Newington police said.
