Newington Officials Rescue 3 Baby Ducks From Storm Drain

NEWINGTON, CT — Newington volunteer fire officials, police officers, and animal control staff joined forces Thursday morning to rescue three baby ducks from a storm drain.

Photos shared by the fire department show the heroes' mission from start to finish as they first gathered around the open drain, got their hands on the ducklings, and then put them safely in a crate with warm towels.

"Firefighter Sam Martinchek was able to climb into the drain and rescue all 3 ducklings," the Newington Volunteer Fire Department wrote. "Great work by all!"
