Newington PD K-9 Helps Catch Christmas Day Holdup Suspect: Police
The 32-year-old Bristol man is accused of an armed robbery on Christmas Day at a Newington Cumberland Farms store.
NEWINGTON, CT — With the help of a department police dog, local police have charged a Bristol man after a Christmas Day armed holdup at a local Cumberland Farms store Wednesday night.
According to the Newington Police Department Thursday morning, Dylan Martin, 32, of Bristol, was charged with second-degree robbery; sixth-degree larceny; interfering with a police officer; and failure to pay or plea.
Police said Martin was being held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Police said Martin was charged Wednesday evening after an investigation into an armed robbery at the Cumberland Farms located at 724 Cedar St.
Newington officers were alerted to the robbery by store employees at about 7:56 p.m.

Police said the caller reported that Martin was armed with a knife and had fled the store on foot.
Newington PD K-9 officer "Ray" tracked Martin from the Cumberland Farms store to the CT Fastrak busway.
Ray and other officers then located Martin, who matched the suspect description walking along the pedestrian walkway on the Fastrack, police said.
According to the NPD, Martin ran from officers when confronted and the dog and officers chased after the suspect.
Police were able to take him into custody after a brief chase, police said.
