Resident, Staffer At Newington Senior Facility Honored

Middlewoods of Newington, an assisted living facility, celebrated the efforts of two at a special awards ceremony last week.

NEWINGTON, CT – One staffer and one resident of a local assisted living facility were honored last week by a state organization overseeing such operations.

Middlewoods of Newington resident Eleanora Nagy and team member Valentine Anthony were recognized by the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) with two prestigious awards, Friday, June 23 at an award ceremony at Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook.

Both were joined by members of the Middlewoods of Newington team, along with Nagy’s family members. Awards were presented by Christopher Carter, president of CALA.

Nagy, who has lived at Middlewoods since 2021, was the recipient of the CALA Outstanding Resident Accomplishment Award.

Since moving to the Newington senior living community, Nagy has become an advocate for community life, sharing her years of experience working in customer service and willingly sharing her story to help others who may be considering senior living or trying to adjust to a mov

Middlewoods of Newington Executive Director Lori Pisani said “Eleanora’s accomplishments since moving to Middlewoods are rooted in her commitment to relationships and with so much evidence pointing to the impact of relationships on health, longevity, and happiness in life, it is so fitting that she was chosen to receive this award. We are so proud of her.”

Valentine “Val” Anthony is a longtime C.N.A. at Middlewoods.

Anthony received the CALA Outstanding Resident Service Award for the many ways she goes above and beyond and models a commitment to relationships, always making time to truly connect with residents and their families.

“The dedication Val has shown throughout her years at Middlewoods of Newington has made such a difference in our community and the lives of our residents. Both Val and Eleanora are true treasures here at Middlewoods. They are so deserving of these special awards,” Pisani said.

Middlewoods of Newington Independent and Assisted Living Community is affiliated with UConn Health and located at 2125 Main St. in Newington. The senior living community is owned and operated by United Methodist Homes, a nonprofit, mission-based organization in Shelton.
