Town Of Newington Distribution Of At-Home Test Kits And N95 Masks

The Town of Newington has received additional test kits and N95 masks from the State of Connecticut. The Town of Newington will hold a drive thru event on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 6:00am to 9:00am, or until test kits are gone. Distribution will take place on Alumni Road. Vehicles must enter at the intersection of Willard Avenue and Alumni Road. No entry will be permitted from Cedar Street. See Press Release and Map.

The intent of this distribution event is to reduce the spread of the Omicron variant by getting test kits to people who are symptomatic and/or who have been directly exposed, and who do not have access to other testing options. Newington will prioritize distribution of test kits and masks to vulnerable populations including, but not limited to, persons who live in congregate housing and persons who have physical, mental or intellectual, developmental disabilities or other obstacles. Residents may call 860-665 8590-Human Services or 860-665-8778- Senior & Disabled Center to request a home test kit and/or masks. Items will be provided in a method that meets the resident's needs.

Due to our limited supply, there will be a limit of one (1) test kit and five (5) N95 masks per vehicle during the drive thru event. Vulnerable populations are asked to use the contact information above.

Please review the details below carefully:

• Must be a Newington resident - proof of residency required (photo ID with Newington address, or recent mail with a photo ID)
• Have proof of residency out and ready to show volunteers
• Do not line up early; you will be turned away
• Masks must be worn by all occupants of the vehicle
• Residents must be in a vehicle; no walk-ups
• Remain in vehicle at all times
• Drive slowly through distribution area
• Distribution will end promptly at 9:00am, unless supply runs out earlier
• Follow directions of staff and/or posted signage

If you have already received a test kit at a previous distribution, please be courteous to those who have not by allowing them to access these kits first. A separate distribution will be held at a later date for residents who are just interested in masks.
