Woman, 30, Critically Hurt In Newington Crash: Police
The accident happened on the Berlin Turnpike late Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday morning.
NEWINGTON, CT — A woman was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington late Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Newington Police Department, officers were called to the busy roadway at about 5:06 p.m. near 2800 Berlin Turnpike.
Police said the crash involved a single vehicle crashing into a traffic control signal stanchion.

As a result, the Berlin Turnpike was closed in both directions for a period of time during the investigation.
Police said the sole occupant of the vehicle sustained serious injuries, and the driver, a 30-year-old woman from Plainville, was in critical condition.

The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is leading the investigation, which is
active and ongoing.
