All Souls Holding Vigil For Boston Marathon Bombing Victims Tonight

A New London church is holding a vigil tonight for the victims of a bombing at the Boston Marathon on Monday.

The All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation announced that it will hold a vigil from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"We will stand in solidarity with the victims of this senseless violence as we stand in solidarity with peace-loving people everywhere," Rev. Carolyn Patierno said in an e-mail.

Two explosions near the finish line of the race killed three people and wounded up to 125, according to the Fenway-Kenmore Patch. At least five New London runners were taking part in the race, and two are confirmed to be safe. Services for identifying the status of people who were at the race include a Google People Finder service set up for that purpose and the Red Cross Safe & Well registry.

"Today is the next day. A day not for moving on but rather a day to pause. To take care. To consider who we will be as individuals, as a community, and indeed, as a country, today and in the days to come," Patierno said. "Today is a new day. It is also a day to be reminded of and express our deepest values to love one another; to love mercy, to do kindness and walk humbly."
