Daily Five: Big Picture, Saving, De Adriaan Windmill
Five things to know for April 23

1. A good chance of afternoon showers today, becoming less likely in the evening. Sunrise is 5:57 a.m., sunset is 7:38 p.m. The high temperature reaches 49 degrees and falls to 42 overnight.
2. The Big Picture comes to downtown today, and you’re welcome to join in if you get some time on your lunch break. The annual group photo arranged by New London Main Street will assemble people on Parade Plaza from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., with photos starting at 12:20 p.m.
3. Representatives from Chelsea Groton Bank will visit the Public Library of New London today to talk about how children can start saving their money. This event starts at noon in the Children’s Room.
4. eBay Tuesday runs every Tuesday at 5 p.m. Check it out to learn more about a piece of New London history up for sale on the auction website.
5. The De Adriaan Windmill in Haarlem in the Netherlands, a 153-year-old icon, burned down on this day in 1932. Restoration was hampered by numerous different factors, but the windmill was rebuilt and reopened exactly 70 years after the fire.
