Five things to know for April 17

1. A little warmer today, with a high temperature of 62 degrees during a partly cloudy day. Sunrise is 6:05 a.m., sunset is 7:31 p.m.

2. The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is holding a spring break activity this week with an Egyptian face mask and headdress workshop. This is designed for children ages 6 to 10 and starts at 10:30 a.m.; the cost is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

3. The Port Authority holds its regular meeting at 4 p.m. tonight at City Hall. If you’ve got a question or concern about the waterfront activity in New London, this is the place to bring it.

5. Robert Atkins, whose namesake diet stresses a low carbohydrate intake, died 10 years ago today after falling and hitting his head outside his New York office. He was 72 years old.
