Daily Five: Rugby Face-Off, Saxophone Concert, Nixon

Five things to know for April 21

1. Plenty of sunshine but a bit chillier today as the high temperature only reaches 52 degrees. Sunrise is 5:59 a.m., sunset is 7:36 p.m.

2. In one of New London’s cross-town rivalries, the rugby teams of Connecticut College and Mitchell College throw down today. The match starts at 1 p.m. and Conn College is hosting it on Tempel Green.

3. If you want to make it a day on the campuses, you can head over to the Coast Guard Academy at 2 p.m. for the U.S. Coast Guard Saxophone Quartet. This free concert takes place at Leamy Hall.

5. President Richard M. Nixon died on this day in 1994 at the age of 81. Nixon, who also served as a U.S. senator from California and Vice President, resigned the presidency in 1974 in the midst of his second term due to political pressures resulting from the Watergate scandal and other misconduct.
