Five things to know for April 18

1. Partly cloudy with a high temperature of 53 degrees today, with more clouds rolling in for the evening. Sunrise is 6:04 a.m., sunset is 7:32 p.m.
2. The Coast Guard’s fisheries enforcement mission will be the topic of discussion at the Custom House Maritime Museum’s third Thursday event tonight. Glen Fedzer, foreign service faculty advisor of the Coast Guard Academy’s Humanities Department, will be the speaker. The talk starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free to New London Maritime Society members and $8 for others.
3. Kate Rushin will visit Hygienic Art tonight to read some of her poetry. This event starts at 7 p.m. and is free, but any donations will be going toward future poetry readings.
4. What do you think of the site redesign? Let us know what you like, what you’d like to see, and whatever else is on your mind with this feedback form.
5. Talk about a slow news day. Today in 1930, the British Broadcasting Corporation announced in its 6:30 p.m. bulletin, “There is no news.”
