Passing one storefront in downtown New London, you can get a glimpse into political campaigns dating back to two years ago.
The windows at the store are festooned with bumper stickers, flyers, and handmade signs. There's a campaign sticker for Rob Pero, the Republican candidate in the 2011 mayoral election; another one for Mike Doyle, the Republican candidate for the State Senate in 2012; "Vote No" signs from the referendum on the 2012 municipal budget and tax rate; and a few signs from the organization Looking Out for Taxpayers (also known as Lower Our Taxes).
Political headquarters tend to use vacant spaces in the heat of campaigns, but otherwise the site remains dormant. However, this location has a long history of hosting clothing stores. The "head to foot outfitters" Davis & Savard once stood on the site, and 50 years later the Savards were still there as Savard Brothers. More recently, there was City Limits, followed for a brief time by Lucy's Boutique.
