2. It’s your last chance to check out this season of Flock Theatre’s production of Little Women. The show starts at 2 p.m. at the Shaw Mansion, and tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for students and seniors.

5. The poem “A Visit From St. Nicholas,” perhaps better known as “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” became part of the Christmas holidays on this day in 1823 when it was published anonymously in the Sentinel, a newspaper in Troy, N.Y.
